Key Metaphors
Sheep follow shepherd – other sheep, 99, voice, give life for sheep,
Church is a fitness spa. It teaches healthy practices. It gets you involved in classes which not only teach you but also get you involved and strengthen you as you work with others…but real key is staying active after you leave the spa. Home teachers become personal trainers who help teach and check up on progress.
Big forest. Big tall trees, very proud. Little scrub plant is foreign. Planted in new spot no one wanted to go. Grows and grows. Is dominating. Nothing kills it. Illness comes into forest. Big trees start dieing everywhere - little scrub keeps growing stong. Where it was planted give is nutrients which kill illness. Doesn't have seeds. Only grows and roots take off from the plant.

Parable of parking lot - Elder Delenbauch was as happy parking cars at Stk Cnf as he was being Stake President - confirmed by Pres. Nordfelt - this is first calling I've really understood how to do…I had e-center parking for 4 years.

Moon is symbolic of our testimonies - sometimes they are full, sometimes barely a sliver. But they keep moving forward. We reflect the light of Christ and it is where we are located determines whether or not we shine.
Weight loss is symbolic of other addictions.
Sleepiness and waking up is like seeing the real world - the world of immortality around us
Parable of the diabetic…too much stimulation over and over, make it difficult for natural processes to break it down and it leaves a lot of stimulants floating in bloodstream which ultimately destroys ability to use it, and it starts eating away the very core of the spirit. Eating low carb will take the sugar out and make you feel so much better. Once a diabetic always a diabetic. Will always need to be careful. Catch it early enough, and you can get by with discipline...let it go on too long and you start losing organs.

Cares and solutions are like being in a shower, and having a drain. If the drain/solution get's clogged then the sink starts backing up till you feel you're going to drown. Gospel cleans out the drain, and gives you a liferaft.

So many people choose to smoke, immoral, etc. Most fall - because they don't want to be uninitiated. Sometimes doing the worng thing seems right because it is easier but it is dark, and everyone chooses the easy way…wanna be different choose the hard thing. Don’t worry about being uninitiated – you are initiatived in doing the hard thin
8th grade girls have it figured out. They want to look just like all the other girls. They are so humble. They don't want to appear any different…if clothes change, then so does theirs. This is true and good. The key is that we all should seek to be like someone else...the prophet...the savior
Mormons are the players on the football field - the captain's crew on the cruise ship, the cement mixers on the highway We may not be the sports cars zipping along, but that's only so that are of more usefulness when we arrive.
To be a member of the church w/o a testimony is like being engaged to be married, and not knowing if you love the person you're marrying
To have a testimony but doing bad stuff, is like planting a garden and then nurturing the weeds - eventually the weeds can get so bad that you're going to choke the good plants
